WEEKEND FOOTBALL BETTING

This weekend sees three massive clashes around Europe as Real Madrid host Barcelona in ‘El Clasico’ on Saturday and we will find out who will be contesting the FA Cup final. BetRepublic.com previews all three games and provides you some excellent value bets here.

Real Madrid v Barcelona:

This match promises to be the game of the season in La Liga. Real Madrid are top of the table ahead of Barcelona, but both sides have 77 points and Real are one goal better off in the goal difference charts at +57 compared to Barca’s +56.

Paddy Power have Real Madrid as the favourites at 7/5 to win the game as they have won all fifteen league matches at the Bernabeu this season. Despite their awesome performance against Arsenal midweek, Barcelona are the outsiders, but not by much, at 7/4 and the draw is available at 23/10. Barca’s away form has seen them win ten, draw four and lose one match on the road this season. The match at the Nou Camp earlier in the season saw Barcelona emerge with a 1-0 win, but last time these sides met in Madrid Barcelona ran out 6-2 winners.

How will this game go? Both sides are scoring and conceding plenty of goals, so there should be a few in this one.

BetRepublic.com Recommends: Back Lionel Messi to score anytime @ evens and there to be more than 3.5 goals in the game @ 11/8 with Paddy Power.

Aston Villa v Chelsea:

The first FA Cup Semi Final kicks off at 17:00 BST on Saturday evening and Martin O’Neill’s men will be looking to reach their second cup final of the season. However, they will have to overcome the side that demolished them 7-1 at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago. This will be Villa’s second visit to Wembley this season and lost their first match – the Carling Cup Final – to Manchester United.

Villa’s recent form has trailed off and they have won just three of their last seven games in all competitions, drawing three and the 7-1 loss to Chelsea being the other game. Chelsea have won five of their last seven, losing just once and drawing once. They have won their last three games, including beating Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, and will be highly confident of winning this game. I believe that they will win this match too.

BetRepublic.com Recommends: Chelsea to win the match @ 4/7 with Paddy Power and both sides to score @ 4/5 with William Hill.

Tottenham Hotspur v Portsmouth:

This game is the most important game of Portsmouth’s season. They are all but relegated from the Premier League and they have nothing left to play for apart from progression to the FA Cup final. However, they will have to face their former manager and his Spurs side in order to reach the final. Will they be able to do so?

Both sides have a massive amount of injuries to contend with this weekend, with Spurs’ problems mainly located in the defensive areas, while Portsmouth are missing players all over the pitch. As a result of this, and the fact that Portsmouth have really given up in the Premier League, the form book goes out of the window. Yes, Tottenham are the better side of the two, but with Portsmouth being practically relegated their players will be looking to showcase themselves for moves away from the doomed club. Where better to do this than an FA Cup Semi Final? I think that the game will be a close, tight affair but Spurs quality will win out in the 90 minutes.

BetRepublic.com Recommends: Back under 2.5 goals to be scored in the match @ 5/4 and Peter Crouch to score anytime @ 4/5 with William Hill.

Good luck this weekend
