Melzer will need to do something well out of the ordinary to win today. He is competing in his first ever Grand Slam semi final, at the age of twenty-nine, and has defied expectations to get this far. Melzer has already provided major shocks by defeating clay-court maestro David Ferrer in straight sets, and Novak Djokovic from two sets down.
