Weekend Football Betting Previews

Weekend Football Betting Previews

The race for the Premier League title was blown wide open last weekend as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea in impressive fashion. This weekend sees two massive games for the teams looking to overthrow Chelsea at the top of the table, but they won’t have it easy as both Manchester United and Arsenal take on the sides battling for the fourth Champions League spot in Spurs and Manchester City.
Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur Soccer Betting Tip:

Second takes on fourth in the 12:45 kick off this Saturday at Old Trafford. Manchester United sit one point behind Chelsea at the top of the table and will go top of the table with a win, at least until Chelsea host Stoke City at 16:00 on Sunday. Spurs are fourth in the table with a two point advantage over Man City in fifth and they will be going all out for a win to give them a five point cushion with three games to go. After beating Arsenal and Chelsea in the last ten days, they will feel that they can get a victory too.

However, in order for Harry Redknapp’s men to get the three points from this game they will have to end a run of twenty-one games against Man Utd without victory, a run that stretches back to 2001. This will not be easy though as Utd have won eight out of their last nine league games at Old Trafford. Their only loss was against Chelsea last time out and in the prior eight games they conceded just one goal.

Spurs recent away form is inconsistent with three wins, four draws and three losses from their last ten away league games. Both of their wins against Arsenal and Chelsea came at White Hart Lane and with this being an away match I cannot see them winning again.

BetRepublic Recommends: Back both sides to score @ 8/11 and over 2.5 goals @ 8/13

Arsenal vs Manchester City Soccer Betting Tip:

Saturday’s late game sees third versus fifth with both sides desperately needing to win in order to maintain their respective challenges for the title and fourth spot. Man City, like Spurs against Man Utd, have a major obstacle, in history, to overcome as they have never beaten Arsenal at either Highbury or the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. However, City have won both previous encounters between these two sides this season when they won 4-2 in the league and 3-0 in the Carling Cup at Eastlands.

Paddy Power Soccer Betting Tip make Arsenal the favourites to again triumph at home at odds of 10/11, with City available at 3/1 and the draw is 5/2. Arsenal are in good home form, having won six of their last seven home league matches. The only loss was to Manchester United and they have won the last five matches since that defeat, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

City are unbeaten in their last five away games, with three wins and two draws in that time. Their 4-2 win over Chelsea and the 6-1 thrashing of Burnley show that they can score plenty of goals. However, they can be brittle away from home on occasion this season and they were held by Sunderland and beaten by Hull in recent weeks too. As a result of this I feel that Arsenal will have enough to see off Mancini’s men.

BetRepbulic Recommends: Back Arsenal to win @ 10/11 and there to be 2 or 3 goals in the match @ evens.
